image About Noma

Established in 2023, Noma addresses key challenges faced by Nigerian smallholder farmers (SHF), including the use of poor-quality inputs, limited access to finance, and outdated farming practices. Through its innovative "pay-with-output" model, Noma equips farmers with improved seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, optimized land use, and mechanized equipment—without requiring any upfront investment. We also offer affordable mechanized solutions for every stage of the farming process, including land preparation, planting, harvesting, and marketing as well as backyard and greenhouse farming, while promoting digital platforms that directly connect farmers to offtakers at premium prices. Our solutions aim to reduce losses, simplify labor, save time, increase yields, and boost farmer incomes. Noma is dedicated to improving the skills and livelihoods of smallholder farmers by introducing the SHF to semi-mechanized farming usage that can be easily locally fabricated, ensuring precision, optimizing crop density, reducing input costs, and boosting farmers’ income. Through these initiatives, NOMA is dedicated to improving the skills and livelihoods of smallholder farmers. The solutions are semi-mechanized and can be easily locally fabricated, ensuring precision, optimizing crop density, reducing input costs, and boosting farm income. This approach ties repayment to farm output, removing financial barriers and enabling farmers to increase productivity and reach economic self-sufficiency. NOMA's model promotes sustainable development, financial inclusion, and job creation within the agricultural sector. This initiative addresses key systemic challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Nigeria, with an emphasis on improving access to affordable, high-quality inputs, promoting financial inclusion, and fostering job creation. Despite approximately 70% of the Nigerian population relying on subsistence-level farming, poverty persists due to substandard agricultural inputs, insufficient capital for purchasing superior seeds and fertilizers, and reliance on antiquated cultivation techniques. NOMA is committed to digitalizing the process of connecting farmers’ outputs with off-takers through a commodity exchange model—ensuring farmers gain seamless access to markets and receive premium prices for their produce. NOMA breaks the cycle by offering a pay-with-output model that equips farmers with better seeds, efficient land use, fertilizers, herbicides, and mechanized equipment. This model facilitates increased agricultural productivity and economic empowerment without necessitating upfront investment, thereby fostering sustainable development within the farming sector.

Our Goals
No Poverty (SDG 1)

To achieve the goal of eradicating poverty, our approach focuses on empowering smallholder farmers by providing them with essential agricultural inputs and a range of support services. By mobilizing resources and facilitating the implementation of strategic policies, we enable these farmers to increase their productivity and build sustainable sources of income. This empowerment not only helps individuals and families create wealth but also contributes to the broader effort to eliminate poverty in our communities.

Zero Hunger (SDG 2)

Through the provision of essential agricultural inputs and a range of support services, our initiative enables beneficiaries to significantly increase both the productivity and incomes of smallholder food producers. By ensuring access to the resources they need, we help farmers maximize their yields and strengthen their economic stability. This approach not only benefits individual farmers but also contributes to the overall development and prosperity of the agricultural sector in Nigeria.

Gender Equality (SDG 5)

In providing support to our Program beneficiaries, concerted efforts are made to offer special preferences to women and youths. This targeted approach ensures that these groups are prioritized when it comes to accessing agricultural inputs, training opportunities, and other essential resources. By focusing on the inclusion of women and young people, the program aims to foster greater gender equality and empower the next generation of farmers. These initiatives help women and youths enhance their productivity, improve their economic prospects, and actively participate in transforming the agricultural landscape of Nigeria.

Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12)

NOMA utilizes a pay-with-output model to provide Program beneficiaries with access to effective and efficient markets across all intervention locations. Through this approach, beneficiaries are assured of guaranteed pricing for their agricultural products, offering them financial stability and predictability. In addition, the model includes short-duration storage facilities specifically designed to meet the needs of participating farmers. By securing market access and ensuring timely transactions, NOMA’s initiative plays a critical role in helping farmers avoid post-harvest losses. This comprehensive support system not only fosters confidence among smallholder farmers but also contributes to the broader goals of sustainable agricultural development and economic empowerment in Nigeria.
