Established in 2023, Noma addresses key challenges faced by Nigerian smallholder farmers (SHF), including the use of poor-quality inputs, limited access to finance, and outdated farming practices. Through its innovative "pay-with-output" model, NOMA equips farmers with improved seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, optimized land use, and mechanized equipment—without requiring any upfront investment. We also offer affordable mechanized solutions for every stage of the farming process, including land preparation, planting, harvesting, and marketing as well as backyard and greenhouse farming, while promoting digital platforms that directly connect farmers to offtakers at premium prices. Our solutions aim to reduce losses, simplify labor, save time, increase yields, and boost farmer incomes. NOMA is dedicated to improving the skills and livelihoods of smallholder farmers by introducing the SHF to semi-mechanized farming usage that can be easily locally fabricated, ensuring precision, optimizing crop density, reducing input costs, and boosting farmers’ income.

Community Based-Approach

NOMA utilizes a grassroots model centered on organizing farmers within their local communities. By structuring support at the community level, this approach enables tailored assistance that meets the unique needs of each farming group. This localized structure ensures the efficient deployment of resources—such as seeds, fertilizers, and equipment—directly to where they are needed most. Additionally, bringing farmers together facilitates peer-to-peer motivation and collaboration. Members are able to encourage one another, share practical knowledge, and promote accountability. This collective environment not only accelerates the adoption of modern farming techniques but also strengthens bonds among farmers, fostering a sense of shared purpose and community leadership.

Peer-Led Farmer Mentorship Program

To further enhance the impact of agricultural interventions, successful farmers from pilot clusters are paired with new or struggling farmers in neighboring areas. This peer-led mentorship approach fosters effective knowledge transfer, allowing experienced farmers to share proven techniques, practical advice, and insights directly with their peers. By cultivating accountability within the farming community, this model encourages faster adoption of modern agricultural practices. As successful farmers lead by example, they help build leadership capacity among fellow farmers, strengthening the overall agricultural ecosystem and ensuring that gains in productivity and livelihoods are sustained across regions.

Locations Impacted

Interventions have been successfully deployed in various places like Bauchi(Galala, Balma, Dingis, Guda ), Adamawa(Luga), Jigawa(Auyo, Gadarayi), and Kano(Garun Mallam, New Kadawa, New Gafan, Banaka, Fannura, and Alhazawa), with measurable improvements in productivity and farmer livelihoods.

Providing Support

NOMA is supporting farmers through a "pay-with-output" model, providing essential agricultural inputs—such as seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and equipment—without upfront costs. Repayment is tied to farm yields, reducing financial barriers and helping smallholder farmers boost productivity and become economically self-sufficient.
